You’ve got to love public parks. Sunshine, swings, other kids, contact with the outside world… and subtle competition between parents. “Oh no, Johnny doesn’t watch Thomas. I only let him watch 10 minutes of TV a day, and then we work on flash-cards for an hour and eat sugarless organic tofu cookies.” Yes. I’m sure you do.
Anyway, the park we happened to be at has many pseudo-educational aspects: a dino dig, alphabet tic tac toe, and some sort of complicated pulley system that I haven’t quite figured out yet. Pretty cool, right? Un fortunately, it also has some aspects that are a little… too educational. Like the Tunnel. Here’s what I mean:
“Adeia! Look! Let’s go through the tunnel!”
“Ok Daddy! Oh, look, letters! I can read them: ‘F’…. ‘C’… ‘K!’”
“Uh… that’s…. right… Good reading, Adeia! Hey, I know! Let’s get out of the tunnel now.”
At least she didn’t ask what it spelled.
Oh I can hear Refe saying those words. I MISS you guys, and that’s hilarious.
Does Alethea like the park yet? Or does she just kinda hang out? Caden likes the swings, though he always is a bit confused by them at first.
Alethea….
Oh, Alethea. She’s a little more adventurous than I expected. She actually climbs up the playground equipment and goes backwards down the slide on her stomach. It’s alarming.
Taking her places requires the eyes of an eagle and the reflexes of a ninja. We went to the library today, and seriously every time I turned around to say something to Adeia, she climbed on top of a table or shelf. It was hilarious. And tiring.
Oh wow. Yes I am semi-terrified about Caden when he learns to walk. And climb. Right now I only have to search ground level when I can’t find him.
Lol…. Lathie can almost walk.. it’s the climbing part that’s so worrisome. I found her in the toilet the other day. And I do mean IN the toilet. Other times, she decides she needs a bath and just climbs in.
We are heavily investing really tall gates.
Adeia, on the other hand, is like the only tow year old ever to NOT climb out of her crib….even though she can climb in.
I’ll take what I can get.
My friends took the bottom out of the crib and put the mattress directly on the floor inside the crib, to stop their two year old from getting out. I thought that was genius.
I put the gate up this morning in the hall and left Caden with Aaron while I went to take a peaceful shower. By peaceful I mean Caden stood at the gate hollering for me like a skinned spider monkey, while Aaron looked at camera’s on ebay.
Oh well.
