It’s a girl! Woo hoo! We’re totally excited, and are looking forward to having two little girls. (I really wanted to have two girls in a row when I found out Adeia was a girl, so that they could be friends)
Two nights before the ultrasound I had a dream that the baby was a girl. I’m not for sure the dream was completely about the baby, but on the cool side, when we saw the baby’s face on the ultrasound screen it looked JUST LIKE the baby in the dream. No kidding. It was crazy, because I recognized her!
She’s got an adorable little heart shaped face, and the cutest little lips you will ever see on a pre-natal child. If you want a good mental picture, think of Adeia as a newborn. Now add a little more of a “Susan” chin. Size-wise, she’s 10-ish inches and 14 oz. (You could hold her in your hands like a baby bird.) She measures to be about 21 weeks by femur length, (a week ahead!), but by weight she’s on target. Maybe she has long legs? (Yes, you can start lining up your sons as potentials. We will begin accepting applications in November.)
Now I don’t care what they say about second babies being more trouble than the first, this kid is way chill. Lots of cute little fist-making, some sleeping… peaceful as can be. I think we may have caused her some confusion – we told her on the way to the doctor’s that we were going to “see her.” She may have misinterpreted this information to mean that she got to come out, because by the time we got there she was in what I call “go mode:” head down, face down, lined up to come out. When we explained that she was only halfway done, so she agreed to stay inside a little longer. See? She’s so agreeable! And it was good to know that she’s not directionally challenged – she knows which way down is, and that heads, not butts, should come out first….. and that she should NOT have a view of the ceiling when she pops out. (Unlike Adeia, who had to be reminded during delivery before she obediently flipped over)
Afterwards, we went out to a celebratory breakfast. It was awesome, but I had to get up to go to the bathroom three times before it was over, due to all the water intake.
Now all I have to do is get her an awesome coming home outfit. Woo hoo!
Note: It’s a pretty safe bet, though after the ultrasound confusion with Adeia, I think we’ll keep some boy names on the back burner.

Did Devon accurately describe herself and her siblings as ’spaced out?’ How come it’s the youngest one that always sees the clearest?
Congratulations!
And say Happy Father’s Day to Refe for me…
