This past weekend Susan and her family went to a conference in Genoa, IL. If you don’t know where Genoa is, you’re normal. Addie and I were the only ones left to hold down the fort for a couple of days. This was really the first time that I have had sole responsibility for Addie for any extended length of time. It was also Susan’s first time spending two whole days away from her baby.
Addie and I had a great time. We spent most of our time crawling around of the floor or eating cheerios. We said ‘hi’ back and forth for several hours. She sat in my lap while we watched some cartoons together – is it just me, or has the quality of Saturday morning cartoons seriously degraded since we were kids? We even went out on a little date to Homer’s, a great little place that sells hot dogs and ice cream. Adeia ate french fries, and I had a hot dog with everything and some cheese sauce in which to dip the fries I nabbed from Addie.
I had a great time being Mr. Mom for a weekend. I even did some laundry! And when the kiddo was asleep I bettered myself with ‘Les Misérable.’ I am reading the slightly abridged version, which means that Hugo makes the same point in eight different ways instead of twelve. We drove out and picked up Mom on Saturday night, and that was the last I saw of my daughter for several hours. Mom’s and babies have this weird thing about separation, I guess.
We will post some pictures of Adeia soon! Our hard drive is very, very full, so I need to back some stuff up before we can download anything else from our camera. Just hold your horses! In the mean time, I hope everyone is healthy and having a good time.
Hello Tumas.
I now have
1 adorable sweater &
2 adorable onesies for your adorable daughter. Maybe someday we will see you again to be able to give them to her. Otherwise just give me your current address & I will mail them so they still fit her for a while.
ok. toodles.
maybe you guys could also answer your phones or return some calls every once in a while too. Otherwise we’ll just pretend to talk to you while there’s no one on the other line. Which isn’t as fun, but whatever. lol
You three really need to come over sometime next week, since I’ll be home! I demand it! I must see my niece again before she’s got gray hair and a hunchback!
Combo birthday party at my house Sunday afternoon – be there or be not. I was kind of waiting for my better half to make the calls but since it’s already Wednesday I’ve made the announcement.
‘Nuff said.
Copper? Stop pressuring your brother about getting together all the time, it happens when it happens, is the way I look at life.
